Lewis University is a private, Catholic university located in Romeoville, Illinois, approximately 35 miles southwest of Chicago. Established in 1932 by the Chicago Archdiocese and Bishop Bernard J. Sheil, it began as the Holy Name Technical School, emphasizing aviation technology—a focus that continues today through its esteemed Department of Aviation and Transportation Studies .
